It Looks Like It’s Over For Moonlight

Since I have been on “holidays” for the past week I thought I would catch up and see where one of my most favorite shows is in getting renewed. While I was gone I wrote a letter to TNT to see if I could convince them to accepting to pickup Moonlight. I offered them free advertising too in hopes they would take the series just for me. But they didn’t it looks like. Here is the latest news:

Don’t shoot the messenger here, but Moonlight is over, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The sets of the paranormal romance series have now been dismantled in preparation for CBS’ upcoming drama The Mentalist, which stars Simon Baker as a detective who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation.

The Mentalist?? WHAT?? What ever happened to lets make Moonlight the best it can be…dumbasses! But the report goes on to say…

As a show that has rapidly attracted a solid fan base, every option to keep Moonlight was reportedly explored. Sources say that while there was significant interest from various parties, at the end of the day, it’s all about the numbers and the math did not compute. Moonlight did fairly well in its timeslot but didn’t do so well as compared to Ghost Whisperer, which aired on Friday nights at 8pm before Moonlight, or as well as Numb3rs, which aired at 10pm after it.

Moonlight ratings might have been suitable for another network, though there is still no guarantee the same number of viewers would have followed the show to a new home.

They go to say that this probably won’t make fans stop trying to revive the show. They finally got something right. I think they have a solid fan base now. I have never seen other fans support me in this cause to getting the word out that this series needs to be saved. So for everyone … RAH! RAH! RAH!

P.S. I finally watched the finale of Moonlight. I cried like a baby at the end. It is not fair to put Mick and Beth together and then end it. This is not satisfactory!

This is just so sad. I’m another Moonlight fan, and CBS really needed to give the show a chance.

It did seem like CBS gave up too soon…man…I miss Mick St.John…and it really makes me sad!

CBS has a history of not giving good shows a chance, or recognizing when they should hang on to shows with a solid fanbase. I’m sorry to hear that about them tearing the sets down. :(

CBS also said the sets for Jericho were destroyed and the actors were out of their contracts. Neither statement was true at the time it was issued.

    Don’t believe what CBS says!

I am so sorry for the fans of Moolight. I totally understand your frustration when a really good show is cancelled by the network that says it cares….bs if you asked me. They only care about the almighty dollar and who is buying what and how old you are and where in the country you live….demographics. They don’t really care…..just want people to think they do! I am so saddened for the Moonlight fans as I am a Jericho fan and was really hoping to see Moonlight saved as well. Good luck with the continued fight to save your show too!

Yep, right in there with the fans who were “staked” by the nameless network. But I am not giving up yet… shows have picked up by other networks, made into movies or miniseries or even released on DVD. When Alex, Sophia and Jason knock on my door and tell me to quit, only then I will (and maybe not even then!)

Thanks for bringing this to light. Lots of people still are waiting for Moonlight to return this Fall, not realizing it’s been cancelled. CBS really didn’t give it a fair shot, and that’s a shame. Like others, I am fighting for the show’s return, which is a first time for me. Just really loved the show… A LOT!! In the meantime, I really couldn’t care less about anything else that CBS has on the air. They’ve lost me and my money.

We are not giving up. Someone someplace has got to turn a lightbulb on inside of their cobwebbed head and realize that one of the best shows on TV was Moonlight and that Alex O’Loughlin has made Mick St. John a character that will go down in TV history and one of the most memorable. This show had so much more to offer that the garbage they are replacing it with. Someone needs to get smart and very soon. Has anyone noticed how many vampire shows are popping up and we had the best of them in the palm of our hands. Bring back our Moonlight!!

He was the best actor out there…I believed in Mick St John and it hurts to think he will never be back. It’s not fair! :(

I do not believe that cancellation was due to the ratings. When you win your time slot 15 out of 16 times that shoots down that excuse. Do the networks expect there to be any tv program that is going to command staying home on a Fri night rather than going out? There are many other ways to watch the program.
The rating excuse is much more political than the network airing their dirty laundry.
I feel it was a personal issue and have my own theories but the numbers excuse does not hold water.
