Ellen Degeneres Blasts Sarah Palin For Prop 8

There is such controversy on Prop 8…and if it were to go through it would ban gay marriage. I have changed my opinion of how I feel about it in the last year. I support gay people wanting to get married. Love is such an amazing thing and so is marriage. How come straight people can get married 4 or 5 times over and over but gay people can’t get married once. It doesn’t seem fair at all. Sen Sarah Palin wants to ban gay marriage on her show Ellen Degeneres ranted about it.
“I told you all I’ve been watching CNN a whole lot lately. I’ve been watching it way too much I think because they’ve invited me to their Christmas party.
She continued, “I don’t know if you saw this, but Vice Presidential Candidate, Governor Sarah Palin says she’s that in favor of a federal ban on gay marriage. Basically wants to change the constitution. So if you’re wondering, I’m sure you are, how I feel about this. I don’t like, I don’t like it. I don’t agree. Maybe it’s because I’m gay that I think we should all be equal. but I feel that we’re all equal.
“I don’t know what people are scared of maybe they think that their children will be influenced. I gotta say I was raised by two heterosexuals. I was surrounded by heterosexuals just every where I looked heterosexuals and they did not influences. I mean I dabbled in high school, who didn’t? Everyone dabbled, ya know?
“People are gonna be who they’re gonna be. And we need to learn to love them for who they are and let them love who they want to love.â€
I think Ellen is amazing at changing people’s opinion of how they should feel.

Hi….!
First it was revealed (albeit in an appropriately delicate manner) that Mrs. Palin is essentially a crook, and now we learn her “hockey-mom” status is fake. I find it truly frightening that the United States could soon fall into the hands of a “maverick†who chose this individual as his running mate. If McCain wins, this election will not only predictably lead to a constitutional crisis, but will ultimately do more harm to the reputation of the evangelical Christian movement than the seedy, religiously-oriented Dead Sea Scrolls scam put on as a purportedly scientific exhibit last year at a “natural history†museum in San Diego. Ellen has such a wonderful heart. She is very passionate and expresses herself well.
Speaking as one of the gays, I think she has beautifully taken the mantle of being the head gay on the planet. A title I hope to hold one day.

The choices and freedoms that you have today as a woman (I’m assuming you’re a woman) would have been unheard of even 100 years ago. Tell you what, why don’t you give up your right to vote? Jennifer, if you were only commenting on this issue to get us “wackos stirred up” then I believe it is you who needs to get a life. And a brain. And pick up an education and some self-respect while you’re at it. You know, you religious fundamentalists are ridiculous. There is very little in the Bible about homosexuality, but plenty about tolerance and acceptance. I don’t think this is what Jesus meant. Hillbilly wingnut.

You are stilling marriage was a religious celebration between husband and wife when they got married. And you all say the church should stay out of this. You should never had done this in the 1st place. How can you still something that never been yours in the 1st place. It was a wonderful thing between a man and women to get married and for those who love god you all want to destroy people faith talk about push and push. Find a different name for what you want that has not to deal with stealing marriage and or the meaning. that the courts can give you partner ship instead of destroying and pushing yourself onto people.
Yes the state gives out license to be married but when from the start got involve with the churches and wanted license . feel the state should never ever issues marriage license and the church should been to keep it what it was before. Show no one would b so crazy like they are now wanting to tae down people faith and religion and destroy the meaning of marriage!

Will Homosexuals Inherit the Kingdom of God?
One of the most greatly debated scriptures regarding homosexuality is 1 Corinthians 6:9-10:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (NIV).
While the scripture may sound clear, the debate actually surrounds the use of the Greek word that this particular version of the Bible translates as “homosexual offenders.” The term is “arsenokoite.” Some say that it is a reference to male prostitutes rather than to two committed homosexuals. Yet, others argue that Paul, who wrote the passage, would not have repeated “male prostitutes” twice. Even others argue that the two root words in arsenokoite are the same terms used to prohibit any premarital or extramarital sexual relations, so they may not refer to homosexual relations alone.
However, even if a person believes that homosexuality is a sin based upon this scripture, the next verse does say that homosexuals can inherit the kingdom if they come to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:11 – “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (NIV)
What About Sodom and Gomorrah?
In Genesis 19 God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah due to the extensive amount of sin and debauchery going on in the city. Some add homosexuality in with the sins being committed. Others say that it was not just blanket homosexuality being condemned but homosexual rape, meaning it is different from homosexual behavior in loving relationships.
Cultic Homosexual Behavior?
Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 are also debated among denominations and scholars.
Leviticus 18:22 – “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” (NIV)
Leviticus 20:13 – “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” (NIV)
While many Christian denominations and scholars believe these scriptures clearly condone homosexuality, others believe that the Greek terms used were meant to describe the homosexual behavior present at Pagan temples.
Prostitution or Homosexuality?
Romans 1 discusses how the people gave into their lust. Yet the meaning of the acts described are debated. Some see the passages as describing prostitution while others see it as a clear condemnation on homosexual behavior.
Romans 1:26-27 – “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” (NIV)
So, What Does the Bible Say?
All of these different viewpoints on the various scriptures most likely bring up more questions for Christian teens than answers. Most Christian teens end up adhering to the viewpoints based upon their personal beliefs about homosexuality. Others find themselves swayed or more open to homosexuals after examining the scripture.
Whether or not you believe homosexuality is a sin based upon your interpretations of the scripture, there are some issues surrounding the treatment of homosexuals of which Christians need to be aware. While the Old Testament focused on rules and consequences, the New Testament offers a message of love. There are some Christian homosexuals and there are those that desire deliverance from homosexuality. Rather than trying to be God and pass judgement on those individuals, a better option may be to offer prayers to those struggling with their homosexuality.
So what does the church say about sex before marriage? It probably says something to the same affect but it keeps happening…they are tolerable to that… but not to this?
It’s not about equality. It’s about the definition of marriage. It’s so hypocritical that you all are allowed to have an opionion about gays and marriage, but those who oppose Prop 8 (who define marriage between a man and a woman) are considered racist, haters, etc. Unbelievable! You’re allowed to have an opionion but we’re not. Stupidity!

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you push one way, you’re going to get at least as much opposition. So, how can you say you weren’t allowed an opinion?! You gave your opinion at the polls!
I’m not sure why you people are so insecure in your own marriages that you think that two people you don’t know getting married will affect you in some way. Why don’t you just live and let live? For the billionth time, this bill would not have forced churches to perform the marriages. Therefore your precious corporation–er–church, would have been protected.

Exodus 21:1-4 “If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing. If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.”
Hmmm…slavery. Not too popular, eh? OK, let’s try another.
