The Nielson Company has compiled data for the top timeshifted primetime TV programs of 2008 (January 1st, 2008 - November 23rd, 2008). Yay for data. But what does this data MEAN? Well, simply put, it’s like a popularity contest!

I like all of the shows they listed, with the exception of Grey’s Anatomy and Fringe, so I’m glad they all got a bump. Interestingly, Heroes DID get a bump because we were promised a better season - yet, we haven’t gotten one. I expect a decline in the numbers for the show - maybe. I can’t be sure. Ugh @ Elle, ugh @ Nathan, ugh @ Tracy Strauss!

With the explosive season finale of Bones last season it’s no surprise to me that it’s also gotten a bump in viewer numbers. The same goes for House M.D. and the Wilson/Amber storyline. I PERSONALLY didn’t care for it, but I guess others really, REALLY, did.

Here is the tally:

#1 - Heroes, NBC, 35% increase in viewership

#2 - Fringe, FOX, 26% increase in viewership

#3 - Lost, ABC, 25% increase in viewership

#4 - Bones, FOX, 21% increase in viewership

# 5 - Grey’s Anatomy (Thursday 9 p.m.), ABC, 20% increase in viewership

# 6 - House M.D., FOX ,18% increase in viewership

Read the rest here.

If you check the Top 10 Most-Effective Product Placements (Brand Opinion) you’ll see that Project Runway does very well with promoting products and websites they mention - like Bluefly.com and TRESseme (I do use TRESsemme sometimes, I love it).

In general it seems that it’s the reality TV shows that can really sell products to consumers. Indeed, that’s where most of these are, with the notable exception of products on One Tree Hill. With 2, 575 product placements it’s the only non-reality TV show that made the top ten list of Top 10 Broadcast Network TV Programs - Product Placement Activity. Now, who wants to shop?

I watch all those shows except Bones. I can’t get into that one. Never have.
P.S. Love the pic of House and the glove. Kinky.
