YouTube.com is what a lot of us, including me, refer to as a miracle invention. Pulled into the evolutionary inevitability of the Internet’s power over me (I can admit it!) I made a YouTube Account earlier last year. When you log in, the account gives me suggestions of what I might like, according to videos I’ve favorited or watched recently. I’m trying to keep this in mind as I look at the two most recent YouTube Video picks for me.
…Um? Do you know what I’m talking about? That yellow-tinged video after some MTV award show thing where a fan was all ‘LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE’. It makes me physically cringe to watch it! I don’t like Britney Spears, although I guess maybe I watched a video with one of her songs recently. Which I hope is what explains this suggestion. Sigh!
Ellen Degeneres had two great moments on her show, John Mayer and Josh Groban. I can’t tell you how many times I used to act this song out with my cousin. I think Ellen has been taking singing lessons because she doesn’t even sound that bad! Or it could be that I’m half deaf.
Harrison Ford looks like one cool standing by his BMW GS motorcycle. He took a break from his Sunday morning ride to get some coffee. I always thought that Harrison was cool…even though he gave me that dirty look when I was 14. But now I am over that. He can look like a cool dude on his bike.

Jake Gyllenhaal was out with Reese Witherspoon the other day and she was sporting a mysterious bump..whatever she may be pregnant…but what I found were these really cute pictures of Jake. He cut off all his hair! But, I have to say he looks a lot hotter now. Except I can’t see his eyes because of the sunglasses….bad Jakey!
Yes, my hero John Mayer was on the Ellen Degeneres Show today. I have been meaning to post about it all weekend but I have been crazy busy working. I’m glad I waited or I would have missed posting John and Ellen Degeneres singing in her Bathroom Concert Series. I love this idea. She is brilliant!
I also have to include the banter about the light switches:
“There is no normal thing in the Aniston house,” he jokes. “You won’t find a light switch. I just want a switch that glows orange. Just give me a switch that glows orange and I can swing my arm up [and turn on the light].”
Ellen says, “Hey, when you said in the middle of the night… Do you sleep over?”
“Yeah, there are sleepovers, yeah,” John replies.
“You have sleepovers, that’s cute,” Ellen jokes back.
“Yes, there are. There are sleepovers,” John confirms once more.
John sleeps over at Jennifer Aniston’s house… NO WAY!
See the clip of them singing in the bathroom after the jump…
Ellen Degeneres is the March 2009 cover girl for Ladies Home Journal. I am so glad that she is on cover because we hardly ever see her doing anything like this. In the interview included she talks about being beautiful, her marriage to Portia DeRossi and the future. Here are the highlights:
When did she feel most beautiful? “The day I got married.” Ellen’s eyes got red and watery and she runs off. When she returns, she says: “You’re worse than Barbara Walters!…It’s just very emotional. You find the person you love, you think you’ve come this far…and anyway, I never thought I’d have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined.”
About their biggest domestic squabble: Says de Rossi, “I do leave half-finished beverages everywhere. I usually have three cups of tea going at once. I’m Australian. That’s just what we do. And anyway, I was going to thank her in our vows, for picking up all the glasses – and say that she’d have to do that for the rest of her life. She took that on. But she’s very good about it.”
About her off-camera future: “I don’t need to be on camera. I’m not a workaholic. I love to spend time with my wife, my family, my animals…We’re looking for the right place to have a farm. Someplace like Massachusetts or Nantucket, with seasons. We could get an 1800s farmhouse with land and rescue animals. Then I’m done.”
Her thoughts on beauty: “To me it’s sad to be defined by beauty, because it’s something that goes away and changes. If you’re trying to chase that forever, you’re in trouble.” At the same time, DeGeneres adds, “as I’ve aged and matured, I just feel better about myself, more confident and more comfortable in my own skin. As that’s happened, I think I look better than I’ve ever looked, because that’s just what happens when you feel better about yourself.”
