Gossip and Robert Pattinson: Take a Stand already.

Standing in line today, at the grocery store, I got physically ill. Please, allow me to tell you WHY. Normally, I don’t bother even looking at those crap gossip rags, the horrible tabloids that do nothing but spin lies, and alter the truth so horribly that you couldn’t find one shred of decency in it if you TRIED, today was no exception.
What got to me today, though, are the headlines about Robert Pattinson. I know he’s “IT” and “Golden Boy” of the moment (forgive me Rob) and people want to capitalize on that, strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, but I, for one, can’t stand it. Is there no integrity left in this world? Is his soul only worth $3.99 of horrible fallacy to you?
I know that the magazines, and I use that term loosely, are only printed because of supply and demand. Which tells me that instead of wanting to know the truth about Rob, people tend to gravitate towards the things that make him into something he isn’t.
I put this to the true Robert Pattinson fans, admirers, what have you, out there.. do you really believe that he is the person they portray him as in the Gossip Magazines? Or do you read them because you find them entertaining?
If it takes me relishing in lies, someone else’s pain and embarrassment to be entertained, then I’ll opt for being bored for the rest of my days.
Do I judge people for reading them? No, to each their own.
However, I have to say that you should read up on Rob, familiarize your self with who HE is, as much of him as he lets be seen that is.
It seems to me, that most of the Twilight Saga cast are fairly private, and they are entitled to that privacy.
Rob is no exception to the rule. If he doesn’t even like watching his movie Premieres, if he prefers to stay inside out of the public eye, do you really believe he’s some dark, sinister playboy by night, and charming Don Juan by day? Come now. Not that he doesn’t have it in him, we’ll pretend for a moment that he does, but he isn’t one to flash that around.
I have said this time and again, I grow tired of repeating it, but since constant vigilance is my mantra, I’ll continue with it…
Celebrities are people, just like we are. They are not infallible, they are not flawless, they should not be placed on a pedestal. They deserve privacy, and more importantly respect.
Think about it this way..maybe it’s fun to you to read malicious gossip about a celebrity, because they’re “untouchable” “unreachable” to you, but what if YOU were in their shoes? What if it was your son, daughter, husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, someone that meant something to you on a personal level? Would you WANT to see those headlines? Would you spend your $3.99 to be entertained THEN?
It breaks my heart to know that we have become so apathetic and indifferent to the plights of others, that we allow trees to be sacrificed, just so we can read bullshenanigans (thank you Jackson Rathbone for the use of that word) about celebrities. Sacrifice trees for education sake, classic literature,poetry,prose,art, instruction manuals, fine, but to lower ones IQ? It’s a travesty.
Those that run these Gossip mags, laugh all the way to the bank, and will continue to do so, until we take a stand.
You love Robert Pattinson ? Jackson Rathbone ? Kellan Lutz ? The rest of the Twilight Saga Cast? If you do, PROVE IT.
Show them some respect. When you’re in line at the grocery store, or wherever you see them, pick them up and turn them around. Do not pick them up and read them, and most certainly do not purchase them. Will it stop the crap rumors? No, but it will make an impact.
It only takes ONE person to make a difference, to take a stand.
Be the change you want to see in the world, and it’s contagious. Others WILL follow suit.

i completely agree with u , celebrities are humans and should be treated with respect and its saddening that these stupid gossip rags sell so damn well and of course that people believe this crap its sick and disgusting

to all the twlight/rob fans, consider this… if you really admire them that much then let them live their personal lives in peace… and maybe we’ll get to see them around over the next couple of years…
no human – and thats what they really are – could possibly deal with fame to such a crazy degree without being affected psychologically…
ask yourself “how would i feel?” if it were you who couldnt walk out in public without a dozen body guards… or what if it were you who was in the centre of all the scandal…

I’m guilty of buying a copy of one of those crap magazine’s(Life&Style magazine) but i literally didnt read it, i just bought it for the pictures. haha but yes, aside from all that.. I totally agree with you.
Willow, honey, you’re preaching to an empty church. As proof, please note that you have only 3 comments prior to mine. Now if you had reported on RP dating an albino dwarf, or perhaps engaging in a forbidden liaison with one of his colleagues (JR??!), you’d have a string of comments pages long by now. Let’s face it, anyone tracking RP on the net is ALREADY guilty of being a soul-sucking vampire of the uncool kind (and yes, I do include the two of us, as well as the 3 prior commenters, in that epithet). If there were no hits on websites that posted trashtalk about RP, then there would BE no websites posting said trashtalk. Same goes for the gossip rags. But can we maybe all agree to stop physically molesting the poor guy and letting him at least cross the street in safety??

Yes they are celebreties and need their respect, but on the other hand they are people in the light of the public and this is a big part of their job. They earn a lot of money for all of this.
Thank you very much for this article, at last someone that speaks about giving dignity to celebrity, specially those that seek for work and not to be in the spotlight (like Paris Hilton).. I think actors like Robert or any other, do realize that the paps and giving interviews comes with the territory, but I think they are able to assume as long it is work related, like while they are promoting their work, not while they are trying to work or go on their normal lives.
I never bought gossip, and even though I do want to know about Robert Pattinson beyond his work I take what he says in interviews, I don´t want any gossip mag quoting their “sources” to tell me anything private about him; he deserves his privacy.
Awesome article! I stopped buying these awhile back because of how ridiculous they were.. I think the word will get out and the true Rob fans will follow you! It’s a great idea to protect our admired one!
You said it all WillowRaine.You hit the nail right on the head.It does not matter that he/they are in the public eye or that he/they make alot of money.We don’t own them because of that.It’s their job.It’s what they do to make a living.It’s what they do to pay the rent,electric,water,trash,put gas in the car,buy toilet paper. I’m sure you get my meaning.They are just like you and me,and they deserve to be treated with respect,and left to do their job in peace so they can go home at the end of the day just like us and relax until they have to get back up in the morning and do it all over again,just like you and me.
DIRK! their job is not about let everybody inside their personal lives, it’s not about being hassling by stupid people every step they make..they’re selling a caracter, a new rol in a movie, they are not selling their integrity, the problem is the iracional fans, the paparazzis (I think it is the lowest work anyone can do, really) the people who think that they are some kind of gods, it seems like they never stop working, they’re always being looking and stocking by someone. they never sign a contract to let go their normal lives away, every job have a break, a time you can live for you, everybody deserved that.
I have been always hate this paparazzi and fan behavior but I think the problem with robert pattinson and kristen stweart is going way to far.

Exactly – he deserves his privacy!! The gossip mags need to leave him alone and quit making up crazy stories to just get you to buy their mags!! Rob needs the chance to do his JOB without all the chaos that is surrounding him now!!! Yeah he is hot and we like to see pics and know what is going on with him, but there is at time and place for all that, like scheduled interviews and photo sessions that he has agreed to!!! Other than that leave him the hell alone and let him live his life!!!
That is a great point!! No I dont think your preaching to a empty church. They do indeed get paid well but thats besides the point they do this–making movies for our entertainment but this is gone to far with Robert Pattinson I really dont blame him for being sick and tired of all the female fans-stalking him. Let him have some space who knows when the end of the twilght saga comes out he may go back to London and not come back because of what some of these fans have done and I personally like him as an actor and hope he sticks around for a while. So yeah when you stated turn them around when you see them Im going grocery shopping today and I’ll do just that turn them around cause its crap!!

LOL! I got yelled at today for turning over 4 of the 10 checkout lanes smut mags! haha! I laughed and walked out and as I looked back…the grunt worker was flipping em back over…sad…but tomorrow is another day right?

100% agree. I do not buy the mags. Full of BS all of them. I use to give People mag the thumbs up. But no longer. Same for the TV shows like E and Access. How many times do you have to show Michael Jackson’s head on fire. I say about 7 times in 10 minutes. Ridiculous. Have you ever noticed that all the gossip is the same in every mag and TV show. No one ever disagrees. Insinuations, overkill, and crappy interviews. One minute it is Jennifer Aniston, then it is Kristen and Rob and now it is Michael Jackson. Today they showed the hospital room he was in 25 years ago when his hair caught fire. Wow I have been waiting for that news for years… Pathetic.
