Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

Posted by WillowRaine on July 18, 2009 | 1 Comment

Before Stephenie Meyer bounded onto the scene with her amazing Twilight saga, full of cold vampires, who sparkle in the sun, dazzle when they speak, and started the houses divided (Team Edward/Team Jacob), there was J.K Rowling with her amazing make believe world,in which I admittedly loved to escape.
The Harry Potter books. Call me a child if you will, but I do like children’s books, as well as anything else that I find interesting to read. My imagination is my favorite attribute, and I’d be lost without it.
Though, when I heard they were making the books into movies, I cringed. So many movies, based on books..no wait..scratch that, I have yet to see a movie, when actually compared to the book, that matched up to the precedence I had set for it in my mind.
So, I knew I had to be mature. I had to see them as two separate entities, because none of our imaginations are exactly alike. My brain doesn’t process and interpret the books, the same way yours would.
So, I see the books as one entity, the movies as another and it works out quite well.
So, the first movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and the third movie,Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban I LOVED, because of Chris Columbus. Seriously, he’s amazing. Check him out on his IMDB page.
The rest were, in a word, MEH. I mean, I have appreciation of them.
I own them. They just didn’t wow me. Now, this newest movie?
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I am stoked to see. The trailers look AH-MAY-ZING, and quite frankly, they’ve been through the ringer trying to get it filmed. So, I’d go see it, even if it sucked wind..hard.
Poor Ron, (Rupert Grint), even wound up with Swine flu, at some point, but we are happy to report, that he is on the mend. We wish him a speedy recovery.
By the looks of the trailer though, I’ll actually enjoy sitting through this movie:

My plans tomorrow? I’ll be at the theater.

You all have been reading my posts on Spencer Bell, and I’ve been pushing for you guys to get to know him, and I realized that I have done very little to help educate you on the disease that took him from this world. Adrenal Cancer.

I took the excerpts from UMCCC:
Adrenal cancer is both extremely rare and extremely deadly. This is why research is so important.
About 200 Americans are diagnosed with the disease each year with nearly no chance of survival at five years for those diagnosed with advanced disease.

Definition

Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is rare, but very deadly. About 600 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States, or about one to two cases per million people. Learn more about adrenal cancer on the University of Michigan Health System’s Healthwise Knowledgebase.
Diagnosis / Treatment

Adrenal Cancer is diagnosed and treated in the Multidisciplinary Adrenal Cancer Clinic. Research into the causes of this cancer, and how to best treat it, is pursued through the Endocrine Oncology Program.

Now,maybe you see why research for this cause is so important, so desperately needed, but it doesn’t come cheap, or easy.
That’s where WE all come in. We pitch in and do our part.
We won’t find a cure tomorrow, but with each donation, we get a millisecond closer to it.

I’ll end this with your daily dose of Spencer. This was a video that I found on The Spencer Bell Memorial Page

You can find this and so many more videos, pictures, and memories of Spencer Bell if you click on the link to his page, or the banner at the top of this one.

We <3 you Spencer Bell. So help me, we WILL make a difference in this fight, if I have to shout it from every rooftop.

Kristen Bell & Her Cute Black Dress

I have been so busy this week that I haven’t had a chance to post about Kristen Bell at the one year anniversary of the 3.1 Phillip Lim Los Angeles store in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday (July 15). And incidentally it’s her birthday today, she’s 29 today. She’s so young yet!

She was one of my favorite characters on Heroes when she was on there. I was disappointed when they killed her off. I was hoping that Syler and Elle would be together forever.

Drew Barrymore: When Photoshop Goes Bad

Posted by taylor blue on July 18, 2009 | No Comments

Drew Barrymore Harper's Bazaar Australia 2009

Drew Barrymore is on the August 2009 issue of the Australian Harper’s Bazaar. I like Drew, I’ve followed her career, I have nothing against her but come on now. I have been to about seven or eight posts on this issue and no one has mentioned the bad photoshop job they did on Drew. Are we that blind we can’t see it or do we not want to say something when it’s justified? Saying they did a bad photoshop job has nothing to do with Drew, she doesn’t work for them doing that. It’s crazy what the media as a whole decides to ignore. And what crap they actually post.

Avril Lavigne Covers Elle Canada

Avril Lavigne Elle Magazine August 2008 Cover

Avril Lavigne is the cover girl for the Canadian issue of Elle magazine.  I know that she’s from Canada but really I don’t see her as Canadian anymore. She’s made quite a name for herself and probably lives in the States with her husband. In this issue she talks about her clothing line, her changing style and her new album. Here are the highlights:

On her fans following her style: “I knew my style really resonated with my fans when they dressed like me at my shows-that was pretty insane. And it was so cool to see them change with me. For the second record, I wore bondage pants and started putting black in my hair, and they started showing up looking like that too.”

On her clothing line Abbey Dawn: “I wanted this clothing line for so long, I wanted to do it right. I didn;t just want a Licensing deal; I wanted this to be my line, and I wanted to put everything I have into it. I’ve been planning it for years. It’s my own personal style-everything I love.”

On settling down: “I see the fast pace continuing for awhile. I don’t want to settle down. If I’m going to have kids, it’s not going to be until later. I have a lot I want to do, and I just want to have fun.”

On her new album reflecting her increasing maturity, but not leaving out her youthful pop-punk side: “I’m a young spirit-I like to jump around and have a lot of fun. I have a side that’s really feisty and a side that’s sensitive and mellow. I’ve always loved playing ballads, but I also enjoy rocking out, so I like to mix it up.”

Jennifer Aniston Rocks The Short Shorts

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to just roll out of bed and you would look as perfect as Jennifer Aniston does in this picture? I love what she’s wearing here. It’s my mission to be able to wear something just like this next year.

Note that she’s drinking smartwater. She of course is in the ad campaigns for the water. I wonder if she gets it for free or has to pay for it just like us? We all know that it’s great advertising for them with her just carrying it around.
