I am obsessed with television. I’m really sorry. It kind of goes with the territory though when I love to focus on television shows. The networks have released most of the yes’ and no’s for the 2009-2010 season. (I’m still holding out for Chuck!)
I decided I would pick some of my favorites from each network and tell you if they have been renewed or not (Or could be renewed or canceled). And if you find a puddle of water at the bottom of the post don’t mind it. It’s just because I’ve cried over my canceled shows. (This year though I think the only one that I watch that is in jeopardy is Chuck.)

Above is Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) at the Metropolitan Opera’s 15th Anniversary Gala. While I find Newton’s Ugly Betty character, Amanda, totally a delicious diva, I’m not that sure how I feel about her dress. I love me some sparkle, especially in this gorgeous green – that’s not the problem. In fact, it reminds me of the one video game I’ve heard of that I might actually want to play – Emerald City Confidential.
This dress is totally shapeless, though. A nip at the waist would have really helped bring this up several notches. It kind of looks like the casual velour sweatpant equivelant for the red carpet. Pockets on this green dress only add to this feeling. Sorry Becki, but I don’t think Amanda would approve!
The latest trailer for Lost premiered Tuesday during the elections. I didn’t get a chance to see it but it looks great! Finally, I have some news about Lost. It’s returning in January…probably the end of January by the looks of it. There is going to be 17 episodes (an extra 2 to make up for the short season last year). The only really bad news is that it probably won’t run uninterrupted so they can the season in May during sweeps. It’s still not known what day it will be on either. But hey that’s what TiVo’s are for right?
UPDATE: A tentative date has been scheduled for the season five premiere…January 21, 2009 at 8 p.m. Yes, that’s a Wednesday and the same night as American Idol is on too.
Lost kinda ticked me off in it’s season finale…not only did it take a year for them to answer the question of who was in the coffin. It totally confused me more. I think that episode had a lot of holes in it which I was really surprised by. But, with that all being said what is in store for Season 5, SPOILERS AHEAD…
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse recently took the stage of the ABC Press Tour and spilled a couple of Lost Season 5 secrets.
Damon says that they are definitely working on how they will manage the split casts next season… what with the Oceanix Six off island and the remaining losties still stuck! “We have that [issue] intensely in mind,†Damon says. He says that they find that separating characters geographically and emotionally is a valuable storyline tool for them, but they’re aware that they can only do that for so long before audiences get impatient.
Damon continued speaking about Season 5, saying “This is a tricky year for us. This is like The Two Towers [portion of The Lord of the Rings saga] … it links us to the final season.†They know what they’ve wanted to do in the final season for a long time, but it’s a challenge to make THIS season engaging and exciting. “The worst thing we could ever do on the show is for the show to be boring … If we’re going to be bad, we’re going to be spectacularly bad.â€
Damon and Carlton also chatted a big about Harold Perrineau’s recent outspoken ideas regarding Michael’s death. “The show has to be an equal-opportunity murderer … We’ve killed a lot of white people. And I can almost guarantee we will be killing more white people this season,†Damon relates.
Hmmm, I can only imagine what is in store… Can’t wait! But, I hope they pick a fast forward or a flashback…I was so obessed I couldn’t watch the show until I knew what it was.
Two of my shows got canceled…Moonlight being my favorite one…But October Road was canceled too. But unlike CBS, ABC cares about their fans. They may not be bringing the show back for the season but they are trying to make fans happy by wrapping up the loose ends.
Of course, that wouldn’t be good enough for me for Moonlight but at least ABC listened. I swear I was the only one that watched that show but now I can see the end. Because it was a great show. So what is CBS’ problem…they are being hugely stubborn. Wake up guys…smell the coffee…these vampires won’t stop fighting.
