I think the people at WHO magazine that selected Alex O’Loughlin as one of the Sexiest People of 2009 have done something right. I mean look at him. The tattoos, the no shirt, the abs…he has my vote for sure!

I love this quote by Alex’s co-star from Moonlight, Sophia Myles.

“People get weak in the knees around him. He has a special sparkle that’s just magic.”

Alex O’Loughlin hit Milk Studios last night where he celebrated IWC Schaffhausen and their partnership with the Charles Darwin Foundation in Los Angeles. Alex was showing off his nice watch.

Alex revealed recently that he is very fond of watches and actually has a collection of them. Although, the collection is missing one important watch that he loves.

“I collect watches. I love them. I’ve been obsessed with watches since I was a boy. My grandfather had a watch. Before he died, he used to turn wood, make beautiful tables. At his workshop, he had this old watch. It was, like, stainless steel with a black face, some old Swiss watch. He would keep it in one of the drawers in his workshop.He was an old, gruff Aussie man, so he’d growl at me when I’d go into the workshop. So I’d sneak in — because he had sharp tools, lathes, dangerous stuff. I’d go in and think, ‘It’s so deadly in here.’ I’d go in his drawer, and I’d open it and the watch was this big thing.

“It was cold, and I’d put it to my face. It was cold, metal, heavy. It was like a story in his life. It had dings in it. I remember looking at it when we’d go fishing. So from that point, I’ve always had this thing with watches.”

I love watches too. The bigger the face better. Maybe one day Alex and I could compare collections.

Alex O’Loughlin hit the TV Guide Magazine’s Hot List Party last night in Los Angeles.  Alex stars in the show Three Rivers which is on Sunday nights on CBS.

You have to love Alex’s style. He’s not afraid to be different that’s for sure.

Alex O’Loughlin is such a humble man. That is one of the reasons why I like him so much. He isn’t one to let fame get the better of him. In this interview from Entertainment Tonight he talks about how he is a normal guy, how Moonlight gave him a lot of gray hair, and how he is on the organ transplant list.

I know I have mentioned this before but I’ve been on the bone marrow and organ transplant list since I was 20. I know back then it wasn’t something that was well known yet. But thanks to Alex we all can know about it better. Be sure to watch Alex on Three Rivers on CBS tonight.

It’s been a couple of days since I’ve mentioned one of my favorite actors of prime time, Alex O’Loughlin. TV Guide posted this adorable video of Alex explaining more about Three Rivers and how he freaked out when he saw an open chest cavity for the first time. And the cutest thing is at the end when he juggles PDA’s. Now that is a talent I could never get down.

Be sure to tune into CBS on Saturday when they will be replaying the third episode of Three Rivers called Good Intentions.  We need more people to watch the show, I know that the time slot of Sunday night isn’t good. If only there was something that could be done about it. Alex has worked his butt off for this job and I want to keep him in prime time television where he belongs.

I am a huge fan of Alex O’Loughlin. Yes, I have him on my Twitter background even. But after this interview that was done with him, I can’t resist him any longer. I didn’t even know that was possible since I was already such a huge fan of his.  So here is the 10 things that make me want Alex even more.

1. He plays guitar. “It’s a hobby for me, but I’m never alone if there’s a guitar there.”

2. He can fish (and more). “I’m a fisherman. I’ve always loved fishing. I grew up fishing for trout. I’m not the best fly fisherman, but I can fly-fish, because I crack a whip. I learned to crack a whip as a boy, out on the properties. I have skills, mad skills. Also I’ve been ocean fishing and river fishing.”

3. He could try to fix your toilet. “I worked for a plumber for three months or something, when I was in the tortured teenage years, as a part-time job. It was s***, pardon the pun. It was the worst job ever, so disgusting.”

4. He can now tie surgical knots. “I can actually do the knots. Gonzo (Dr. Gonzalo ‘Gonzo’ Gonzalez-Stawinski, the surgeon who inspired O’Loughlin’s ‘Three Rivers’ character, Dr. Andy Jablosnki) showed me. I’m quite proficient with that, because I’m used to working with fishing line.”

5. He can save you from a raging inferno. “I put a bush fire out. I had to fight a bush fire when I was the property. It was one of the most incredible things, terrifying. We get them a lot in Australia.”

6. He plays sports. “Carol (series creator Carol Barbee) called me and said, ‘What sport does Andy play?’ I said, ‘Rugby.’ Rugby union is a more sophisticated game and a more civilized game. They call union the ‘Lords’ Game.’ League is rougher. I never played in union. I also play a game called Aussie Rules (Football). It’s a great game.

“You don’t have to punch each other in the face anymore. It’s all changed. It was part of the game. As boys, it’s important to get punched and hit. Now you get severe penalties, and they bench you for six weeks. We called it ‘getting to know each other.’”

7. He had troubles as a child. “I had a bit of OCD as a kid, quite a bit, actually. I wouldn’t step on a crack. It would take me an hour to get my shoes tied, because I had this weird OCD thing.”

8. You want him to make you his special meatballs. “Lots of fresh garlic, but — it makes a difference — the way you cut the garlic and the onion, the kind of onion you use. If it’s just for me, I use lean beef. If it’s for other people, I’ll use Wagyu or Kobe.”

9. He had interesting taste in TV as a kid. “‘A-Team,’ hell, yeah, man – Murdock, Hannibal. Those were my favorite shows, ‘The A-Team’ and ‘Monkey Magic,’ which I bet none of you knows about. It was about these mythical characters: one was a monkey; one was a pig; one was a fish; one was a Buddha. They would travel over the countryside. They’re all kung-fu masters. It’s the great show.”

10. And, yes, he can sing the “Monkey Magic” theme, and there’s a dance to go with it. But he’s not sure what he’d think of the show as an adult. “It’s probably s***. I haven’t watched it in years. Now I’d watch it and go, ‘It’s terrible.’ But I thought it was the greatest thing.”

I love guitarists. And I can make Alex all the meatballs he wants.

Now we all know Alex O’Loughlin looks hot shirtless…it’s quite evident in the above picture from his forthcoming movie, The Back Up Plan. Time Out New York had a chance to talk to Alex about he keeps his body just right. I really could stare at his stomach forever. Here are the highlights of the interview:

On his current fitness routine: Pretty extreme. I’m playing a surgeon currently, so I’m trying to say on the thinner, leaner side. I’ve seen a lot of the surgeons move around the hospital quickly, eat on the run; they’re pretty lean.

On how he keeps himself lean: I do circuit training, interval training. I do this interval thing called Tabata. It’s 20 seconds on, ten seconds off at 100 percent intensity. I aim for four days a week.

On what he doesn’t like to do fitness wise: Swimming in a pool back and forth drives me crazy, but I can run for hours. Whatever I can do outside I prefer to do. I much prefer to get up in the hills, use trees and rocks.

On if he hurts himself on the rocks: All the time! I been hurting myself since I was like five years old. People ask what kind of kid I was—I used to steal bricks from construction sites, build walls from them, then ride my trike down through them. I fell out of a rope swing when I was six years old and I’ve had a couple motorcycle accidents, so I have to keep my core really strong. Every workout I do has a core-based strength to it. If you focus on your core, doing Pilates and things, everything else will respond better.

On what kind of music he listens to while working out: Rock. Hard rock. Like, really old Metallica, from their first four albums, or Soundgarden. Tool. I love working out to Tool.

On what food he eats for a break: I have a very sweet tooth. You could put a giant chocolate cake in front of me and I will eat it. Unashamedly, no apologies. But if it’s not there, I don’t eat it. Once I a week, I have one day off where I eat whatever I want. Honey Smacks! They drive me crazy. And Froot Loops.

I’m not sure how I missed this but Alex O’Loughlin was at the 2009 Legacy Awards last night. He was also at a live chat today that I got to go to. I have the transcript and I have yet to go through it. But when I do I will publish it right away. I did get to say hi to Alex and he saw me but none of my questions were answered. He was really funny and entertaining and so smart. He’s one of a kind for sure.

I just missed this show yesterday and I was kicking myself for not watching it. But I knew that Deb at LOL would follow through for me and I would be able to see it.  Alex O’Loughlin really stole everyone’s heart on The Bonnie Hunt show. The part that killed me was when he was talking about all his friends calling him BRO and how he should be pitching the ball at the Dodger’s game (pictures of that here).

Alex O’Loughlin is taking over Fall TV with his new show, Three Rivers in October. And it looks like people are noticing. Alex has been named the hottest newcomer of this TV season. I have to admit that Paul Wesley is pretty hot too. Vampire Diaries is amazing, I’m already addicted to that show.

UPDATE: I realize that I forgot to add something and a comment on this post made me realize I should add this in. I noticed Alex a long time ago. It’s funny to see that he is being called a Newcomer again when he was in on TV just a couple of seasons ago in Moonlight.  I’m so glad you are back Alex, we have all missed you!
