Patrick Swayze…You’ll Always Be MY Johnny Castle

patrick swayze

It seems like every week these days we are writing posts about someone dying. Today it happens to be Patrick Swayze who lost his 20 month fight with pancreatic cancer. I know many people said it was bound to happen. But I was hoping maybe Patrick could last forever.

I want to remember Patrick the best way I know. As Johnny Castle from Dirty Dancing. I used to watch that movie as a little girl and wish that I could be Baby and dance with him. I even bought the soundtrack on record so I could listen to it all the time. Yes, I said record.

Celebrities took to Twitter to pay their respects to this amazing actor that we will all miss dearly.

@emmyrossum: RIP. My heart hurts

@Alyssa_Milano: RIP Patrick. You were a great talent. And more importantly… a true gentleman.

@amandabynes: I have a great deal of faith in faith; if u believe something strongly enough, it becomes true for u. Patrick Swayze RIP.

@seankingston: R.I.P Patrick Swayze ;(

@jamie_oliver: sad news Patrick Swazey the actor from dirty dancing just passed away, very sad i met him once he seemed nice, very sad night.

@DonnieWahlberg: Moment of silence and respect… We just lost the subject of one of our best songs ever… And a true star… R.I.P. Patrick Swayze.

@rosemcgowan: He was so brave&he fought so valiantly.yet another RIP Patrick Swayze.

@billyraycyrus: Patrick Swayze. An inspiration to all. A great man and your work will live forever. May God be with you and your loved ones……… Amen.

@yvettenbrown: I’m sad to hear about Patrick Swayze’s passing. My heart breaks for his wife.

@TheRealJordin: Awww RIP Patrick Swayze. He was such a fighter! He doesn’t have to be in pain anymore.

Our thoughts are with Patrick Swayze’s family and friends as they get through this time. I hope they can find peace soon. I hope that Patrick is happy where he is because his fighting and pain are over. You will be missed my Johnny Castle, you will be missed.

Katherine Heigl Covers InStyle Magazine

Katherine Heigl InStyle Magazine Cover August 2009

Katherine Heigl is on the August 2009 issue of InStyle magazine. Katherine isn’t one of my favorite people but I do think that she did do an awesome photo shoot. Here are the highlights of the interview she did:

On meeting her husband, singer-songwriter Josh Kelley: “I was fed up with trying to be somebody else and got really lucky and met a great guy who loved me for me. It’s hard—I think women have to struggle to define themselves, to find what they want. I keep telling my friends, seriously, write down what you want and make it specific. Like, I’m talking, do you want a beach house in Venice? Be specific and be creative and define not only what you want in your career but what you want in your personal life.”

On family tragedies—her brother’s death in 1986 and her mother’s battle with breast cancer: “Here’s the deal: This is what my family and I have been through, and although we’re not perfect, we are survivors. [My siblings and I] were taught to overcome—although that’s not the right word because you don’t really overcome that kind of stuff, but you do learn to live with it and you learn to live despite it… No one in my family ever said, ‘Life’s not worth living because this happened or that happened to me.’ It’s always worth living. And living well.”

On being criticized last summer for saying the Grey’s Anatomy material she’d been given to work with wasn’t Emmy-worthy: “Now I’ve got this moniker that I’m the foot-in-the-mouth gal, and I keep thinking, In what way? Because I said something you don’t agree with? Because I said something you don’t like? I’m just telling you my opinion. I hate the idea that I can’t be honest about how I feel about things because it’s going to piss somebody off who feels differently. That seems preposterous to me.”

Simon Cowell Has A Genuine Halo

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell the blunt, sarcastic, cynical, and handsome beyond words, judge on American Idol isn’t as bad as everyone seems to think he is. But *shhh* he’s got a reputation to uphold, after all!
No matter how many times you’ve had choice words for him of the expletive persuasion, no matter what you told him he could do with his opinion on occasion, one thing is for sure, after you read this, there will be no doubt, that he is NOWHERE near heartless or cold.
Simon’s charity list includes ARK-an international charity whose purpose is to transform children’s lives. CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION-CEE works with K-12 schools to address climate change issues and to cultivate healthy lifestyles. He also works with CHILDREN PROJECT ENTERTAINMENT FUND – “A U.S. charitable organization established to raise money and awareness to help combat extreme poverty in the United States and throughout the world, particularly in Africa.” Not only that, but he also lends his time to HELP FOR HEROES – A charity aimed at helping injured service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
You know what though? After ALL of that, ALL of that, there is still more give in Simon’s heart.
Simon Cowell, while making an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s TV chat show, was so touched by the story of a 3 year old cancer sufferer Madelaine Stoen and the financial plight of her family, that he just HAD to reach out and help them. He paid off the family’s mortgage, all $162,000.00 of it. And also promised them that his help would NOT stop there, no, his exact quote was:

” The money for me is not the important part,” said Cowell. “I said to the parents, ‘It doesn’t stop there. If there are any problems, I’m her guardian angel now.’ I never knew that doing good could feel so good.”

Simon, one of many angels, that is walking among us. They may not have wings, or true shining halo’s on display. But they wear them where it counts, in their hearts, and souls.

David Cook Shares His Brother’s Story

Posted by WillowRaine on May 6, 2009 | No Comments

David Cook

It’s no secret that yours truly is a fan of American Idol, and a huge Adam Lambert supporter, but when I found out about this, it definitely opened my eyes to how amazing David Cook truly is, deep down. Not just superficially, but genuinely.
He lost his brother Adam on May 2nd, and still served as the grand marshal for the ‘Race for Hope 5K’ in Washington D.C. during the weekend. David Cook was quoted as saying, during the event “I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else right now.By running and sharing my brother’s story, I hope that it offers those still fighting that much more resolve to not succumb to this wretched disease.”
His brave brother Adam had been battling brain cancer for over a decade, and was taken away far too young. He was 37 years old and left behind his wife, their two kids, his family and countless friends. Our sympathy and condolences here at TenGossip are with the Cook family, and friends as they struggle through this difficult time.
Cancer has probably touched each and every one of us in some way, directly or indirectly, and the fact that David Cook would attend a charity event to raise money and awareness for it, while dealing with the death of his brother, has left me in awe.
I ask that you all observe a moment of silence with me for him, those that are grieving with him, and anyone else that has ever lost someone to cancer, been lost to cancer, or even someone who has survived cancer.
My heart is overflowing with love for anyone who could be this humble, and have such a beautiful soul.
