The People’s Choice nominations were announced today. I was one of those people who voted for my favorites so this was neat to see if my choices made it. Twilight, House, Vampire Diaries, Three Rivers and Gossip Girl made it. But Zachary Levi didn’t make the list. I think that I nominated him for every category. I guess it doesn’t work that way.
I love how Miley Cyrus is deciding to keep it real. The other day she Tweeted this picture that is being featured in her ads for her new clothing line for Walmart. And it came with this caption.
Just F.Y.I my legs DO NOT look like this in real life. That’s the magic of a computer my friends. Just thought I would be honest.
I’m sure many tween girls are squeeing at the sight of this. Photoshopping has become so mainstream now that really it’s hard to know what is real and what’s not. I’m glad Miley cleared it up for us.
Honor Society have set the foundation for a breakout year in 2009. They have been named a Band To Watch by Rolling Stone, “Buzzworthy Artist” by MTV and earned an opening spot on the North American leg of the Jonas Brothers World Tour. In anticipation of their forthcoming debut album Fashionably Late, Honor Society released the single “Where Are You Now” which was featured in the movie Bandslam starring Vanessa Hudgens and Aly Michalka. Co-written by John Fields (Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Eat World) and executive produced by the Jonas Brothers, Fashionably Late showcases the band’s potent sound and skilled musicianship.

For someone who never (make that almost never, now) watches the Teen Choice Awards I have surely discussed them a lot lately. I have to say, it wasn’t THAT bad, I mean, if given the choice between Walking the plank or watching the awards show, I’d probably pick the latter, no, no I definitely would.
There are whales in the ocean, and they could eat me. So, yes, I’d watch the awards, but I digress.
I have heard a ton of mixed reviews about the performance by Miss Miley Cyrus, and I, myself actually have a rather mixed opinion.
Now, I like the song, it’s catchy, and upbeat. It was obviously made for her voice, and it just works. The problem with most everyone about the performance, was a combination of her clothing, and her dancing.
Okay, please bear with me for a moment and allow me to address her clothing issue: She had on short shorts, and yes they were barely there.. however, is that such a travesty, considering millions of ADULT (most of them WAY over 18,or 21 even) Twilight fans the world over, drool over 17 year old Taylor Lautner and want him naked constantly? The difference? The lovely double standard.. what is right for a man, isn’t right for a woman.
Does that mean I want Miley objectified? NO, far from.
But two things to consider, first, and hopefully foremost, she is coming into herself, becoming her own person,maybe that has bearing on her new clothes (or maybe she wore those clothes to signify what she’d wear during the summer?! *gasp*), and then there always remains the fact, that sex sells.
It’s sad. It’s horrible. It’s true.
Maybe she is but a product of her environment? Some of the words to her song..
“I hopped off the plane at LAX
with a dream and my cardigan
welcome to the land of fame and sex,
am I gonna fit in?”
Maybe she’s trying to fit in. Either way, the girl is ridiculously talented, and amazingly beautiful. If she keeps her head about her, and grows with her music, she has no worries.
Her daddy is from Kentucky, I dare say he won’t let her get too far out there, believe me, he’ll straighten her out if he needs to.
So, let her cut loose, and have some fun.
Dressing cute, and sexy (even if it is a bit too early) doesn’t make her a whore, a slut, or a stripper, so let’s stop bashing her shall we?
You know, I figured, although I’m no fashionista by any means, that it would be easy to do this post. I found it increasingly difficult, because there are so many WRONG fashion statements out there. I’ll stick to my jeans, and t-shirts, okay? Thanks.
10.) Ugly Prom or formal occasion Dress: Because when I’m told I need formal attire, the first thing that comes to mind is “I NEED to look like a highlighter marker.” Not. Do NOT buy this kind of dress. It’s ugly.
9.) Extreme Tan lines: You know you’ve seen them. Girls wearing tube tops with THESE tan lines. WHY? Girl, please, either undo the strings when you’re sunbathing, lay in a tanning bed to avoid these lines, or hey, here’s an idea, stay out of the sun. The latter is better for your skin.
8.) Sandals and Socks.: Aye aye aye. NO. JUST NO. WHY would anyone think this is okay? If your feet are cold, then don’t wear sandals, wear tennis shoes or boots. JUST NEVER sandals and socks.
7.) Too Skinny Jeans on MEN: So few men can pull off skinny jeans, literally, they need the jaws of life to assist them.
But I digress, it leaves nothing to the imagination, and if you’re wearing skinny jeans guys,chances are, that’s all you have filling them, imagination.
6.) Men’s Capris: Are you having a growth spurt? No? Waiting on a flood? No? Then DON’T wear these guys, they look ridiculous.
5.) UGG Boots: One word..UGLY. Because I know I really want people to look at me and imagine how sweaty my feet must be inside the world’s ugliest boot.
4.) Popped Collars: This is douche-baggery to the 9th level. *Shaking my head* It makes me pity you guys, when I see this. I mean, really, why? Just..why?
3.) Showing of the Thong: Ladies, ladies, ladies.
What is the reason I hear constantly about why we wear thongs? “I don’t want to show my panty lines.” You don’t? So you want to wear low rise pants and show your ass, and the whole pair of panties? Oh that’s SO much classier. Chic, really. *Rolling my eyes* Pull your pants up, girl, we don’t need to see your business.
2.) The Mullet: We do NOT want to bring this back. I don’t care how much Hannah Montana’s/Miley Cyrus’s daddy Billy Ray sings about it. It never should have happened in the first place, and I think we need to leave sleeping mullets lie.
And the number one fashion no no, is one that I didn’t even know existed. So please, you guys, just, look in a mirror before you leave home and avoid this at all costs:
