Both Ellen Degeneres and Simon Cowell are on the cover of this weeks Entertainment Weekly. It seems that everyone is buzzing because the first pictures of Ellen on the show were released the other day. Ellen has reportedly signed a five year contract with American Idol. I am super impressed because FOX is finally smart! I know that I am more apt to watch the show now that she’s on it. She will add a whole different flavor to it. There are rumors that Simon’s contract is up after this season and he might go. Well Ellen has a solution to that.
Degeneres: “If Simon goes, I go!”
Cowell: [Laughs] “Oh, Ellen!”
DeGeneres: “I will not be there without Simon.”
What does Simon say about all this?
“That’s quite a tricky situation you’ve put me into! I think right now we have to concentrate on the next season and just get through that and worry about everything else afterwards.”
I bet Ellen talks him into staying. If anyone could it would be her.
Ellen Degeneres joins the rest of the American Idol crew in February and before then we get to see the first promo pictures of her from the show. I’m not loving the whole over airbrushed look. Ellen looks great normally I don’t understand why they needed to overdo it.
The second picture released was of the whole crew, Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest. It looks all copy and pasted together. I am disappointed in FOX, I was expecting so much more.
Simon Cowell the blunt, sarcastic, cynical, and handsome beyond words, judge on American Idol isn’t as bad as everyone seems to think he is. But *shhh* he’s got a reputation to uphold, after all!
No matter how many times you’ve had choice words for him of the expletive persuasion, no matter what you told him he could do with his opinion on occasion, one thing is for sure, after you read this, there will be no doubt, that he is NOWHERE near heartless or cold. Simon’s charity list includes ARK-an international charity whose purpose is to transform children’s lives. CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION-CEE works with K-12 schools to address climate change issues and to cultivate healthy lifestyles. He also works with CHILDREN PROJECT ENTERTAINMENT FUND – “A U.S. charitable organization established to raise money and awareness to help combat extreme poverty in the United States and throughout the world, particularly in Africa.” Not only that, but he also lends his time to HELP FOR HEROES – A charity aimed at helping injured service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
You know what though? After ALL of that, ALL of that, there is still more give in Simon’s heart. Simon Cowell,while making an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s TV chat show, was so touched by the story of a 3 year old cancer sufferer Madelaine Stoen and the financial plight of her family, that he just HAD to reach out and help them. He paid off the family’s mortgage, all $162,000.00 of it. And also promised them that his help would NOT stop there, no, his exact quote was:
” The money for me is not the important part,†said Cowell. “I said to the parents, ‘It doesn’t stop there. If there are any problems, I’m her guardian angel now.’ I never knew that doing good could feel so good.â€Â
Simon, one of many angels, that is walking among us. They may not have wings, or true shining halo’s on display. But they wear them where it counts, in their hearts, and souls.
It was Motown week last night on American Idol, and Adam Lambert kicked everyone’s butts with the song he sang, Tracks Of My Tears. I have been telling everyone that he could do it and that he would lose that show tune feeling and am I not right? Simon Cowell even said it rocked!
And for Adam it must have been very special when Smokey Robinson gave him a standing ovation. This is why I predicted Adam is going to take it all!
