James Marsden is starring in the new movie, The Box, where he will have decide whether to push the button and get a million dollars and kill someone he doesn’t know or not. The movie hits theaters on Friday. James is opening up in the November 2009 issue of Women’s Health magazine about love, marriage and women. Here are the highlights:
What men find sexy that would surprise most women: “Two things. First are body parts women are usually not happy with, such as a soft waistline and hips. I like both very much. Women hate when guys touch and pinch them there, but men don’t have curves and the more women embrace them, the sexier it is! Second: when a sweaty woman is leaving the gym, because it’s similar to the way she might look right after sex. Anything that suggests you in that act [is hot].â€
His biggest misconception about marriage: “That nothing would change. I was with my wife for five years before we got married. At some point, she was ready to take the next step, and I would say, ‘I’m committed to you now; nothing’s going to change.’ But [once you marry] there is a huge difference. It’s a different mindset. If you already have a great relationship, it’ll only sweeten the deal.â€
The secret power he wishes he possessed: “It would be cool to be invisible, but I’m afraid of what people would say about me if they didn’t know I was there. Some things are better left unknown.â€
The new movie, The Box, with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden, is hitting theatres on Friday. And every time I see the trailer I am always asking myself what is this movie really about?
So after doing a bit of research I found out that it is based on the short story, Button, Button, this short story also made it’s way into being an episode of The Twilight Zone. The quick run down of the movie is this: Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.
This brings me to the question I have been asking everyone around me. And annoying them with it. Would you press the button if you would cause someone to die and take the million dollars? I know personally I started thinking of every way possible to try to win. Everyone knows I love to play games and I love to try and cheat and win because I’m a sore loser. But there is no way that you can win in this one. If you really need the million dollars, since these days a million dollars doesn’t seem like much, but if you need it it might seem like a sweet deal. But I couldn’t handle the thought of having someone’s death in my head that whole time. And then if I didn’t take the money and really needed it might cause me to have something bad happen to me. So what is a person to do? Would you push the button?
