Blake Lively shows that she can indeed do edgy on the February 2010 cover of Esquire. Blake hasn’t had a shortage of work she stars in Gossip Girl and she just wrapped up the movie, The Town. Reading the interview I saw the best quote of how she explains the state of her life right now.

“I know everybody compares it to a roller coaster, but this is like the part of the roller coaster where maybe you’ve already taken a big dip, but then” — her hand made like a roller-coaster car going up, up, up, slowly to the highest peak — “there’s going to be another unexpected one. A big loop. It feels like something else is going on.”

I know this 22 year old is going places. I have always liked Blake. This is only the beginning for her.

I love hearing stories about actors that go against the odds and persevere. Like Taylor Lautner! Blake Lively did just that and got the role in The Town.  Blake was initially turned down for the role because it was originally supposed to be played by someone much older. So not taking no for an answer she went to Boston to find Ben Affleck, who is starring and directing the movie, to personally audition for him.

What Blake did worked because she got the part and they reworked the script for her.

“My part was supposed to be a 37 year old. I was like, ‘I have to play this.’ And they’re like, ‘No, you’re not 37.’ I took a train to Boston and auditioned for Ben and fought for the role, and he gave me the job on the spot. They rewrote it so I’m 29.”

What have I learned? Fight for what you want and don’t stop until you get it.

Blake Lively took a break on the set of her movie, The Town, in Boston yesterday. The caption on the picture said that she was showing off her characters lack of fashion sense. But I’m not so sure. I think she doesn’t look too bad.

I wonder if Blake gets her lines mixed up between Serena and this character. It might be hard to jump from one to another.
