The People’s Choice nominations were announced today. I was one of those people who voted for my favorites so this was neat to see if my choices made it. Twilight, House, Vampire Diaries, Three Rivers and Gossip Girl made it. But Zachary Levi didn’t make the list. I think that I nominated him for every category. I guess it doesn’t work that way.

Whether you know her from “Man In The Moon” , “Cruel Intentions”, “Walk The Line”, “Just Like Heaven” or one of her many other projects, one thing is true of Reese Witherspoon, she is an angel. A true southern belle, in grace, poise, respect and her giving attitude. Reese captured my heart a long time ago with her acting, she has always been a favorite of mine, but becoming familiar with her charity work, well, let’s just say that soft spot for her has increased ten fold. She donates her time and/or financial support to the following AFGHAN RELIEF ORGANIZATION they Deliver relief aid directly into the hands of the needy throughout Afghanistan, and offers general education programs designed to encourage self sufficiency at the ARO Technology Education Center (TEC) in Kabul. She also helps out AVON FOUNDATION Who are Committed to the mission of improving the lives of women and their families, particularly focusing on breast cancer and domestic violence. Her next charity? CHILDREN DEFENSE FUND Their goal is to ensure every child a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start, and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. (Love that cause, love it). Next she lends her support to DECLARE YOURSELF A national nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign initiated in 2004 to energize and empower a new movement of young voters.
Think I’m going to stop there? No, because she doesn’t. I know right, just keep reading. *Smile* FILM FOUNDATION Their cause?Protecting motion pictures and the rights of the artists who create them, educating the public about the importance of film preservation, and raising the necessary funds to save the endangered cinematic treasures of the 20th century. She also helps out with FOOD BANK NYC, THE LUNCHBOX FUND They help to provide food to disadvantaged children in order to help them grow and achieve their goals. Also, Reese gives to TOY MOUNTAIN Collecting new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children during the holiday season. And last, but certainly not least, she also commits to UNIFEM the women’s fund at the United Nations. It supports projects that promote women’s economic security, human rights and status.
I’ve always heard of southern hospitality. If Reese isn’t the embodiment of that. If she isn’t everything that we as women, we as human beings need to strive for, then I don’t know what is. I have been impressed, and amazed beyond intelligent speech. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Reese for leading the way, and showing that one person can TRULY make a difference. You really are an angel.

Ryan Phillippe was spotted voting in Los Angeles. He of course voted for Barack Obama, he’s hasn’t made it a secret that he supported him, he even rallied for him in Missouri this weekend. Ryan also voted ‘no’ on Prop 8 that is trying to ban gay marriage. I knew Ryan had his head on straight.

We haven’t heard from John Mayer but finally he has decided to blog again. And I couldn’t be happier. Look at that man…wowee…and what a great sleeve he has (I got one over the summer myself!). Anyways, the election is coming up next week…thankfully. And John wrote something that made sense. The post is long so I will only include what really moved me the most.
I was 23 years old when the nation was attacked on September 11, 2001. I can remember hearing pundits say “this changes everything” and “things will never be the same.” Obviously it was a tragic and traumatic event, but that sentiment has carried on through the better part of my twenties.
What Barack Obama says to me is these days are good for something. Just when I’d thought my only role as an adult was to help shoulder the nation through its darkest days (known to us as “the rest of them”), Obama gives me the feeling that I could be alive to witness one of the most brilliant upturns in a country’s history. Imagine that — a young adult in this day and age being given something to someday brag to his children about having being alive to witness. What a concept.
That’s why hope is a worthwhile commodity. To those who question whether hope is a tangible product worth building a campaign around, I’d say take a look at despair and how powerful that has been in reshaping how people think and live. I believe the definition of the “hope” that Barack Obama enthuses operates on the unspoken thesis that there has to be a polar opposite to the despair of 9/11. Because if we accept that there’s not, the will to live becomes forever altered. To adults who will vote for him, Barack Obama represents a return to prosperity. To the youth, he represents an introduction to it.
I think that everything that John says is true. Obama has such an air of calmness around him. He gives you hope for the future and makes you think everything will be alright. Who will you vote for?
