Probably by now you will have seen William Petersen on his last episode of CSI. I haven’t seen it yet but I am sure I will bawl my eyes out. For nine years Grissom has been that show. And for nine years I have loved that show. I used to have the biggest crush on his character because he was smart…and he knew how to solve any case. But, now that Warrick is dead (still crying about that one) they have made it a huge point that Grissom is having troubles grieving over Warrick. I know I am too! So tonight, Grissom leaves.
Entertainment Weekly features William on their cover and talks about his time on CSI…I think my favorite part was his greatest episodes. I picked three of the ones they picked to share with you.
Grave Danger (Season 5) – This was the episode that made me start watching the show when it was on instead of waiting for it to be in reruns. Quentin Tarantino directed this episode…the one where Nick was buried alive. This is my second favorite episode and Grissom was awesome in it.
Dead Doll (Season 8 ) – Grissom was on the hunt to find his girlfriend that was kidnapped by the Miniature killer. He did an amazing job….
For Warrick (Season 9) – After Warrick was shot by a shady cop, Grissom holds onto Warrick and he dies in his arms. This is really what makes Grissom start to be different and he has carried that on right through this season.
I will miss William..the show won’t be the same without him.

William Peterson is leaving CSI: Las Vegas soon, I’m still not happy about this at all! He is the October 6 cover boy for TV Guide too! William recently sat down with TV Guide and talked about his leaving and how there might be a CSI movie in the future. Here are some highlights from the interview:
On a ‘CSI’ movie: “I’d love to see us make a CSI film. It could be good if we did it right. The whole world is interested in the show. That’s the other reason Grissom isn’t going to die of a brain tumor.”
What William Peterson would like to see happen between his ‘CSI’ character Gil Grissom and Catherine Willows (played by Marg Helgenberger): “We finally have sex? Believe me, it’s been brewing all along. For me, anyway. They have this understanding with each other. There’s a different kind of respect Grissom has for Catherine that would preclude a relationship on that level. Grissom’s not going away forever, anyway. Maybe he’ll go to Mexico, then come back and take Catherine with him. A tequila holiday!”
On how Grissom will say good-bye: “We’ve been mapping out my last 10 episodes that will take Grissom from one place to another. There will be no brain tumor for four episodes. That’s the easy way out. We’re trying to paint it as we have done with Jorja [Fox] and Gary [Dourdan]. We’re trying to make it as real and close to reality as the show has been all along.”
Immediate plans following his ‘CSI’ departure: “The Chicago theater community breathlessly awaits my return.” [This fall, Petersen will star in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of 'Dublin Carol,' the play he took time off to star in two years ago.]
On plans to return to the ‘CSI’ set? “I’m going to come back and see the guys on set doing episodes I’m not in. And I’m staying on as a producer. The show is important to me, and I’m not abandoning it. I’m coming back on some level. I just don’t know what yet.”
I’m already crying…I wish that my two favorite characters weren’t leaving!

I found these pictures again from the first episode of the new season of CSI: Vegas. It just makes me mad all over again that they are killing Warrick (Gary Dourdan). He was my favorite character. And now they have for sure killed him because I know in the first episode they get together for a funeral. Of course, it’s Warrick’s.
Here is what is being said about William Petersen’s role (William is also leaving the show too)…
“If the season opener of CSI is any indication—CBS gave critics screeners of the episode this week—William Petersen is going to get quite the emotional workout in his final 10 episodes as a series regular. He gives one of his strongest performances to date as he grapples with the aftermath of the climactic shooting of Warrick (Gary Dourdan) in last season’s cliffhanger shocker.”
I cry still every time I think of how the season finale ended. I am still sad they did this to Warrick!
